July 5, 2026: Looking Right In at a Write-In Campaign for Governor

July 14, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

A number of you agreed with my description of the recent Republican gubernatorial runoff between billionaire businessman Rick Jackson and Lt. Gov. Burt Jones as a mudslinging pig fight and told me you were turned off by them both. On top of that, you were underwhelmed at the Democrat’s choice of former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who bailed out on a city she couldn’t … [Read more...] about July 5, 2026: Looking Right In at a Write-In Campaign for Governor

June 28, 2026: Remembering A Big Brother and His Big Influence

July 7, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

This is going to be a bit up-close-and personal. For the first time in my life, I am without my big brother.  Robert Earl Yarbrough, Jr. passed away and it feels surreal.  He has always been there.  Had he not, I probably wouldn’t be here today. He was not my big brother by size. He was big by his influence in my life.  He was like an extra parent. Bob was a generation … [Read more...] about June 28, 2026: Remembering A Big Brother and His Big Influence

June 21, 2026: Looking Back at the Primary Results and Ahead to the November Elections

June 30, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The primaries are over and it’s time to analyze the results.  Before I begin, it is important you know that Donald Trump has not commented on this column or its author.  That is because he doesn’t know either exists.  For that, let us give thanks. Billionaire healthcare executive Rick Jackson handily dispatched Lt. Gov. Burt Jones in a mud-slinging contest called the … [Read more...] about June 21, 2026: Looking Back at the Primary Results and Ahead to the November Elections

June 14, 2026: Will Our Legacy Be To Leave This A Better World Than We Found It?

June 24, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Have you ever thought about your legacy?  Legacy being defined as “the lasting impact one leaves on the world, both the tangible assets they pass down and the intangible influence they have on others.” For some reason, I have been pondering that subject lately.  Maybe it is because I have more years in the rearview mirror than I have ahead of me.  What am I leaving behind … [Read more...] about June 14, 2026: Will Our Legacy Be To Leave This A Better World Than We Found It?

June 7, 2026: Trying To Deal With Artie Fishel Intelligence

June 18, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

RING! RING! RING! “Hello.  Dick Yarbrough speaking.  How may I direct your call?” “Dick, it’s me.  Artie.” “I’m sorry.  Artie who?” “Artie Fishel, you hare-brained humanoid.  Artie Fishel, of Artie Fishel Intelligence.  You surely remember me.  I am capable of performing tasks that typically require human cognition, such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, and … [Read more...] about June 7, 2026: Trying To Deal With Artie Fishel Intelligence

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
