November 16, 2025: Enwheel The Wagons!  No More Snollygosters In Merriam-Webster’s New Dictionary!

December 30, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Simply said, there is nothing like a good petrichor to make a guy feel on top of the world.  That depends, of course, on my computer’s teraflop since I’m WFH and not interested in ghost kitchens.  In case you were wondering, those are among the 5,000 new words contained in the 12th edition of the Merriam-Webster collegiate dictionary coming out this week. Between you and me, … [Read more...] about November 16, 2025: Enwheel The Wagons!  No More Snollygosters In Merriam-Webster’s New Dictionary!

November 9, 2025: Public Service Commission Race Was About Pocketbooks, Not Politics

December 30, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I am getting mail giving me credit for the defeat of the two incumbent Republican members of the Georgia Public Service Commission this past week.  I am getting mail blaming me for the defeat of the two incumbent members of the Georgia Public Service Commission.  To quote Mark Twain who read a report he had died, “The report of my death was an exaggeration.”  So was my … [Read more...] about November 9, 2025: Public Service Commission Race Was About Pocketbooks, Not Politics

November 2, 2025: Some Random Thoughts On Some Random Subjects

November 11, 2025 by webmaster

Color me bummed.  I found out last week that despite my sterling silver credentials, it seems my chances of being appointed Duke of York have been flushed down the loo.  I got a note from a reader who says I made a “serious factual error” in my column. (Editor’s aside: So what’s new?)  He says it is a hereditary appointment and that he has the inside track to the job –  if it … [Read more...] about November 2, 2025: Some Random Thoughts On Some Random Subjects

October 25, 2025: Exploring the Possibilities of Becoming The Duke of York

November 4, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I am looking for a new job.  No, I’m not planning on giving this one up.   I’m having too much fun messing with the humor-impaired, but I feel like I am ready for a new challenge.  Like maybe a duke. My sources tell me the position of Duke of York opened up recently when Andrew Whatshisname decided not to be duke there or any other place after running around with the late … [Read more...] about October 25, 2025: Exploring the Possibilities of Becoming The Duke of York

October 18, 2025: Upcoming Public Service Commission Race A Referendum on Georgia Power?

October 29, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

You get who you vote for.  Or don’t vote for.  Or who you vote for and don’t know you are voting for.  It is not my job to lecture you on your civic responsibilities.  But I do think I owe it to you to tell you there are some important elections upcoming that can have a significant impact on your pocketbook. Like the Georgia Public Service Commission. The five-member … [Read more...] about October 18, 2025: Upcoming Public Service Commission Race A Referendum on Georgia Power?

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
