December 28, 2025: Reporting On Where Those 39,000 Words Went This Year

January 9, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

As we end one year and begin a new one, that means it is time for the annual report required of all card-carrying members of the National Association of Modest-Yet-Much-Beloved Columnists.  Our motto: Sometimes in error, never in doubt. The report is required.  Otherwise, I might lose my credentials and have to get a real job.  The very thought of that keeps me awake at … [Read more...] about December 28, 2025: Reporting On Where Those 39,000 Words Went This Year

December 21, 2025: I Wish I Had Been There. In Bethlehem

January 9, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

These words are dedicated to the memory of my late friend, Otis Brumby, Jr., publisher of the Marietta Daily Journal.  He encouraged me to run this column each Christmas season. It is also dedicated to those who believe.   I wish I had been there. In Bethlehem. I wish I had witnessed the birth of the baby Jesus in that humble setting in a lowly manger. Was it really as … [Read more...] about December 21, 2025: I Wish I Had Been There. In Bethlehem

December 14, 2025: Attorney General Chris Carr Talks About Running For Governor

January 1, 2026 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I sat down recently with Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr to talk about his decision to run for governor.  Carr will face off against current Lt. Gov. Burt Jones and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and a couple of no names in next May’s Republican primary seeking to succeed current Gov. Brian Kemp, who is term-limited and cannot seek a third term.  The winner will face … [Read more...] about December 14, 2025: Attorney General Chris Carr Talks About Running For Governor

I visited this topic some years ago, but things don’t seem to have changed. RING! RING! RING! “Beep! Beep! You have reached the offices of Santa Claus and Associates at the North Pole.” “Hi, my name is Dick Yarbrough and I would like. ...” “In order to better serve you, please listen to the following options. November 30, 2025: Turning Down All Those York Dukedoms Was A Saving Grace

December 30, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I got a lot of mail encouraging me to take the job as Duke of York which I appreciated.  I thought long and hard about it but decided to take my name out of the running.  I hope you aren’t disappointed with me but looking back on it, I believe it was the right decision. Andrew Whatshisname messed the job up royally and I don’t think the people of York were very happy with … [Read more...] about November 30, 2025: Turning Down All Those York Dukedoms Was A Saving Grace

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
