April 28, 2014: Sen. Chip Rogers ‘Dream Job’ At GPB Goes ‘Poof’

May 5, 2014 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The scene: The office of Teya Ryan, president of GPB. KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! “Ms. Ryan?” “What is it, Tiffany? I am very busy and I asked not to be interrupted.” “I’m sorry to bother you but there is a man pacing outside your office dressed like Big Bird. He says he must talk to you now. Says it is an emergency.” “That would be Chip Rogers. I figured this would happen. OK, … [Read more...] about April 28, 2014: Sen. Chip Rogers ‘Dream Job’ At GPB Goes ‘Poof’

April 21, 2014: Proposed Sea Island Development Awash With Controversy

April 29, 2014 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The Sea Island Company wants to build a group of condominiums on what many people believe to be environmentally unsound ground. Why should you care? According to Pierre Howard, “If Sea Island (Co.) can do this, then it can be done anywhere. The Georgia coast belongs to everybody.” That, he says, is why you should care. Whether you live in Resaca or Rincon, to quote legendary … [Read more...] about April 21, 2014: Proposed Sea Island Development Awash With Controversy

April 14, 2014: Needing To Remember What Easter Is All About

April 22, 2014 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I wish I had been there. In Jerusalem. With Jesus. I wish I could have witnessed the events of a week that changed the world forever. I wish I could have accompanied Jesus into the city as he rode astride a donkey and watched the crowds throw their cloaks before him, cheering the man they thought had come to lift the yoke of Roman oppression from their necks. I wonder if I … [Read more...] about April 14, 2014: Needing To Remember What Easter Is All About

April 7, 2014: Child Abuse And Neglect Need To Be Georgia’s Priority

April 15, 2014 by webmaster Leave a Comment

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month in Georgia, as proclaimed by Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal. Child abuse is a subject I don’t like to think about, let alone write about and you would probably just as soon not hear about. But it is there and we need to acknowledge it and demand some solutions. Sadly, child abuse is not confined to Georgia, The child advocacy group Child Help … [Read more...] about April 7, 2014: Child Abuse And Neglect Need To Be Georgia’s Priority

March 31, 2014: Irritating Liberals And Conservatives In Same Week Not Easy

April 6, 2014 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Even by my impossibly high standards, this has been a good week. It began with a whack upside the head from a reader in South Georgia after I opined that those who want to change the way we teach our children in public schools ought to have their kids in public schools. I was referring to the efforts led by Sen. William Ligon (R-Brunswick) to overturn the Common Core curriculum … [Read more...] about March 31, 2014: Irritating Liberals And Conservatives In Same Week Not Easy

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
