July 31, 2022: An Open Letter To Georgia’s Public Schoolteachers

August 8, 2022 by webmaster Leave a Comment

DEAR TEACHERS: Let me begin my annual message to you as I am going to end it: Thank you. Thank you for your willingness to go back into the classroom once again this year in spite of every roadblock imaginable. A lot of your colleagues have thrown in the towel and decided that the teaching isn’t worth the hassle. It is and you know it because you have a chance to make a … [Read more...] about July 31, 2022: An Open Letter To Georgia’s Public Schoolteachers

July 24, 2022: Sharing Some Olympic-Sized Memories Of 1996 Centennial Games

July 31, 2022 by webmaster Leave a Comment

It is hard to believe it has been 26 years this week since the Centennial Olympic Games were in Atlanta. They began on July 19, 1996, and wound up August 4th. To refer to them as Atlanta’s Games is not entirely accurate. Competitions were held throughout the state, from Athens to Gainesville to Savannah and even one in Ocoee, Tennessee. Most everyone knows the story today … [Read more...] about July 24, 2022: Sharing Some Olympic-Sized Memories Of 1996 Centennial Games

July 17, 2022: Junior E. Lee Talks Politics and Cow Ticks

July 23, 2022 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Well, this is interesting. Donald Trump and Joe Biden have something in common besides being a couple of old white guys. According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, a little less than half of the Republicans polled want Trump as their first choice in the 2024 primary should he make a run to retake the White House. Granted, the number is 49% but remember that Trump got 94% … [Read more...] about July 17, 2022: Junior E. Lee Talks Politics and Cow Ticks

July 10, 2022: A Real Top Gun Talks About The Top Gun Movie And More

July 17, 2022 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I may be one of the few people on the planet that has not seen “Top Gun Maverick.”  As of this writing the film, starring Tom Cruise and a sequel to the 1986 hit, “Top Gun,” has grossed over $1 billion at the box office and shows no signs of landing anytime soon. Someone who has seen the movie is a former Top Gun himself, Hans Trupp, a long-time friend and real estate … [Read more...] about July 10, 2022: A Real Top Gun Talks About The Top Gun Movie And More

July 3, 2022: Donald Trump And The Ghost Of Elections Past

July 10, 2022 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Zzzzzzzzzzz! Snort! Snort! Smack! Zzzzzzzzzzz! “Donald. Donald. Please wake up, Donald! I need to talk to you!” “Snort! Umpff! What? Hey, who are you and how did you get into Mar-a-Largo? As a matter of fact, how did you get in my bedroom, you pervert? I’m calling Secret Service. They will have your fanny tossed in jail before I can say Sean Hannity!” “That won’t be … [Read more...] about July 3, 2022: Donald Trump And The Ghost Of Elections Past

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
