May 11, 2025: Taking Another Look At Sonny Perdue A Decade Later

May 21, 2025 by webmaster

In this job you need a strong digestive system.  Chances are that somewhere along the line, you might be eating a little crow for past opinions.  Not that it has kept him awake at night, but I haven’t been particularly kind to George Ervin Perdue, aka, Sonny, in the past. But after a decade or so, I have decided to take another look at him before I bite into the bird. I … [Read more...] about May 11, 2025: Taking Another Look At Sonny Perdue A Decade Later

Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge Drag Mine Controversy

May 13, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

For the past year, I’ve been railing against the efforts to allow Alabama-based Twin Pines permits to drag mine 582 acres of wetlands it owns adjacent to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge for titanium dioxide. Why titanium dioxide? It is an essential ingredient in toothpaste whitener. Toothpaste whitener? Our state leaders are considering what could be permanent damage to … [Read more...] about Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge Drag Mine Controversy

May 4, 2027: Okefenokee Mining Proponents Still Trying To Sneak Bad Idea By Us

May 12, 2025 by webmaster

One of my favorite quotes came from the late Milwaukee Braves slugger Joe Adcock who observed of his teammate Henry Aaron, “Trying to sneak a fastball by Hank Aaron is like trying to sneak a sunrise by a rooster.” That line reminds me of the current effort by a group of politicians, bureaucrats, timber barons, tone-deaf mining entities and deep-pocketed special interest … [Read more...] about May 4, 2027: Okefenokee Mining Proponents Still Trying To Sneak Bad Idea By Us

April 27, 2025: Waiting To Be Included On Defense Secretary’s Next Chat

May 5, 2025 by webmaster

I am not a happy camper at the moment and I am sorely afraid you are going to be disappointed in me.  There is no question that I have enormous influence in the industry and can make or break political careers with just a strategically-placed pronoun or the well-aimed interjection of a prepositional determiner. So why is Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth not including me on … [Read more...] about April 27, 2025: Waiting To Be Included On Defense Secretary’s Next Chat

April 20, 2025: Why Are Georgia’s Teenagers So Unhappy?

April 29, 2025 by webmaster

I just ran across something called the Teen Happiness Index, published by Mission Prep (missionprephealthcare.com.), an organization that deals with adolescents and families with mental health struggles. The study surveyed 3,012 parents across the country and asked this question: “On a scale of 1 to 10, how happy is your teen?” In Georgia, the answer was that our teenagers are … [Read more...] about April 20, 2025: Why Are Georgia’s Teenagers So Unhappy?

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
