July 20, 2025: No Sympathy For Those Involved In First Liberty Building And Loan Fiasco

July 30, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Believe it or not, there are a number of things I don’t do well.  I could never hit a curveball (or a fastball, for that matter.)  I still can’t. I have a hard time remembering names and dates.  I’m not good at chess and have no clue as to how to play bridge.  I can’t dance and I can’t play a musical instrument.  And, although I haven’t given it that much effort, I would make a … [Read more...] about July 20, 2025: No Sympathy For Those Involved In First Liberty Building And Loan Fiasco

July 13, 2025: Junior E. Lee Not Bugged By Polling Firms Snub

July 24, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I  run for reelection every week.  Even though the editors appreciate the fact that I am a dead ringer for a young Brad Pitt and am occasionally correct on the difference between affect and effect, they want eyeballs right where you happen to be looking at this moment.  Otherwise, they might replace me with a series of columns on 50 Ways to Fold a Shirt.  Or, maybe just leave … [Read more...] about July 13, 2025: Junior E. July 6, 2025: Some Random Thoughts On Some Random Subjects

July 15, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

A lot of people are taking a victory lap after the recent announcement that the nonprofit Conservation Fund, has purchased the property on Trail Ridge, adjacent to our Okefenokee National Wildlife Reserve where Alabama-based Twin Pines Materials had planned to mine for titanium dioxide so that the world as we know it would never face the frightening prospect of running out of … [Read more...] about July 6, 2025: Some Random Thoughts On Some Random Subjects

June 29, 2025: A Victory In Okefenokee Mining Controversy But Threat Isn’t Over

July 6, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

As you may be aware by now, a major victory has been declared in the fight to stop Alabama-based Twin Pines Minerals from strip mining land adjacent to our Okefenokee National Wildlife Reserve in order that the world never run out of toothpaste whitener. The Conservation Fund, a nonprofit specializing in acquiring at-risk lands, announced it has purchased the property for … [Read more...] about June 29, 2025: A Victory In Okefenokee Mining Controversy But Threat Isn’t Over

June 22, 2025: An Outside Look Inside Some Major Events

June 29, 2025 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I know you expect me to be front and center of major news developments and to give you an exclusive account found nowhere else but on these pages. Alas, sometimes despite my best efforts I find myself on the outside looking in. First, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth informed a bunch of folks back in March that he had approved the bombing of Houthis in Yemen.  Included on … [Read more...] about June 22, 2025: An Outside Look Inside Some Major Events

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
